ABOUT ABOUT

January 1st of this year California’s new marijuana laws went into effect. While this is a great step forward for those who benefit from cannabis for medical or recreational use, it also poses new questions for therapists. Cannabis products currently on the market can be 3 to 4x more potent than ever and the side effects can be more extreme. How can therapists work with clients who struggle with marijuana addiction in this new landscape? This workshop will explore legal and ethical implications for therapists and offer some concrete tools to support clients dealing with problematic substance use.

Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch and stay to have additional questions answered and join in a free case consultation with Koorosh - lunch and consultation ends at 1:30.

Learning Objectives

  1. Articulate changes in the California cannabis laws and meaning for therapists
  2. Know the ethical and clinical implications of cannabis legalization on substance abuse and addiction treatment.
  3. Understand alternative, client-driven addiction treatment methods, rooted in a social justice analysis and humanistic/post-modern therapeutic approaches.

We look forward to seeing you there!
